research institutions and global partnerships: sant’anna school biorobotics researcher participates in the india-italy technology summit – new delhi october 29-30, 2018

On Thursday, October 29, Calogero Oddo, a researcher of Sant’Anna School Biorobotics Institute will give his lecture on "Artificial touch: from bionic hand prostheses to telepresence in healthcare 4.0", at the India-Italy Technology Summit in New Delhi. This India Government partnership with the Department Science and Technology (DST), the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry for Economic Development, the Ministry for Education, University and Research, the Agency for International Trade and CONFINDUSTRIA, will comprise a number of events, installations, panel discussions, workshops, B2b match making and bilateral “Tech Talks” with a focus on trade investments and defense.

Space technology and innovation, robotics, artificial intelligence, ICT, clean tech, renewable, healthcare, cultural heritage, education among others areas of interest is the focus of the Italian Prime Minister Professor Giuseppe Conte attending the meeting on October 29-30. Accompanied by a high level delegation of representatives of government, industry, academia, research institutes, scientific community and related agencies from Italy, Professor Conte will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian companies representatives.

Attendees will join the Prime Ministers and delegations for two intensive days of discussing Italy cutting-edge technologies and research while promoting Italian innovative solutions for robotics and industry sectors (Industry 4.0 and Health 4.0 environment, as IoT and cloud computing provide a three layer patient-driven healthcare architecture).

Calogero Oddo will focus on artificial touch, bionic prostheses and telepresence robots. Exploring the up-to-date research findings and industry practices in telepresence robots for medical and homecare applications, Oddo will also highlight the opportunities in student mobility and international exchange programs. “This Technology Summit is a high level platform to create partnerships and explore new avenues for cooperation”, said Oddo.

With over 600 Italian companies in India, Italy is India’s 5th largest trading partner in the EU with annual bilateral trade turnover at $ 10.4 billion (2017-18).
